Community Service
*This page is still under construction. Thank you for understanding.
Papahana Aloha ʻĀina Hawaiʻi supports mālama ʻāina and wahi kupuna through service back to the ʻāina and the people of the ʻāina. We do so by hosting, organizing, sharing, and participating in community service opportunities and events. PAA Hawaiʻi defines community service as a relation and connection, responsibility, affirmation, and committment to a place and its people through action and interaction that helps to heal, love, care, restore, and add to the place. It is an act by which we bestow and give our aloha, our spirit, and our mana to a place and its people through our work and intentional actions. Here we share some of our community service events and steward collaborations.
Pālolo Stream
Papahana Aloha ʻĀina Hawaiʻi, in collaboration with Saint Louis School, supports restoring and maintaining Pālolo Stream. A section of the stream that sits on the Saint Louis campus continues to flow in it's natural state, unchannelized and undiverted. Native ʻoʻopu can still be found in the stream. Native ʻaukuʻu and manu o Kū frequent the area. Amongst the city, concrete and the numerous invasive species, our resilient natives continue to find a way to thrive. Papahana Aloha ʻĀina Hawaiʻi is committed to supporting our natives and the natural habitat that nurtures them.
