In July 2024, Nāpoʻopoʻo native, Uncle Akoni Nelson of Hoʻāla Kealakekua, shared the story of Kua with Papahana Aloha ʻĀina Hawaiʻi youth. Inspired by the Kealakekua story, this ebook, was composed in ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi and illustrated by PAA Hawaiʻi youth. The book was shared with the Nāpoʻopoʻo community at the July 2025, Pō Kiʻiʻoniʻoni Movie Night at Kealakekua Park.
Inspired by the story of Kua as understood and passed down by the kūpuna of Kaʻawaloa and shared to us by Akoni Nelson, Papahana Aloha ʻĀina youth and talented young artist, Maliatoa Taualiʻi, created this design to represent Kua, the ʻaumakua manō niuhi o Kapukapu.
